A cast refashion!

As I've already mentioned, I sprained my ankle a couple of weeks ago. After a trip to the orthopedist yesterday, I've been informed that I also tore a tendon and fitted with a walking cast  to wear for a while so that I can get around a bit better while it's healing. I'm very excited to be mobile and lose the crutches, but the doctor says I could be in this thing for weeks and...it's kind of hideous:

Gray is NOT my color. So, I decided to do a little fixing! It turns out that the cushion part comes out, which made it a lot easier to figure out what to do. I laid it out flat on some cute leftover material (it was a dress that didn't fit anymore; reusing fabric is one of my favorite things!) and traced the outline:

I basically just made a slipcover for the cushion, using plain white cotton for the inside and the already mentioned pink and white polka dots for the outside. There's a piece that goes on the outside front of the boot to stabilize it, and that part I covered in the same white cotton, as I didn't want too much pink. Yes, there IS such a thing :P. It was almost done at this point:

Like my SUPER fashionable piggy pants? They're the only ones I have that are big enough to fit over this thing...I foresee a lot of leggings in my future. I think I can live with it now, though. I wear a lot of pink, so at least I don't have to worry about it not matching!
