My husband and I are going to visit family next month, and I decided that my current bags were just not up to the challenge of carting whatever projects I need (yes, need!) to take along. So, I made a new one, which it turns out is ALSO the perfect size to tote a furry guest:
I probably will not be taking Penelope the bunny across the country, but you really never know.
The bag is based off of this pattern:
And this is what I ended up with (sans bunny):
I modified it a bit, obviously. Since the things that go in my pockets are generally smallish, like tiny scissors, needles, and other various notions, I wanted the pockets to close so that they wouldn't fall out. I didn't want to mess around with zippers, though, and I'm not a huge fan of pocket flaps, so elastic won by default (I actually really like the sort of ruffled look that it gave the front). Then I moved the pockets that were supposed to be on the back to the inside instead - I needed someplace for more valuable stuff, like my wallet:
Still plenty of space for not one, but TWO knitting projects :P.
The handles I made just slightly shorter than the pattern called for - I'd made the whole thing longer overall and didn't want it to hang too low:
I think it's going to be perfect for taking my projects traveling!
