Goodwill is my favorite place to find things to makeover, and a little while ago I found this bag:
It's a really sturdy bag, with a zipper, which is unusual for most tote bags. It did have a weird corporate logo embroidered on it (I forgot to take a picture of it, sorry!), which I took my handy seam ripper to so that I could have a blank canvas. This is what I decided to do with it:
The letters are the Epic Alphabet from Sublime Stitching, and they are super cute and fun! I didn't really have a plan as far as a color scheme, so I'm just choosing floss randomly, and I think it's working so far.
You can see that I had to go over some of the outlines with pen - I haven't managed to get the hang of ironing these transfers on quite correctly. I think I may add a few little animals to go with the letters; I got Aimee Ray's Doodle Stitching book a little while ago and I think this is the perfect project to try out some of the designs. Especially since it has this little pocket, which I think is begging for a tiny elephant or something, don't you?
I think once it's done it will be my market bag; the farmer's markets around here are ending this week, but we're lucky enough to have Pike Place Market year round, and I think it will be perfect for hauling fruit (and whatever else I find...) home!
