As all quilters do, I have a rather extensive scrap drawer. Sometimes, when I'm feeling extra ambitious, it's even actually organized with cute little boxes I made myself:
But let's face it, that really only happens about twice a year. At the moment, it looks more like this:
It needed a little work, so I decided to make some scrappy blocks. I've been wanting to try these for a while, but I've been a little intimidated and didn't know where to start. I finally decided just to start piecing and see what happened, and within a couple of hours I had these:
You can see that the first one there is a little bit wonky. It was my practice block, and as usual, not ironing was a mistake (I just used my 5 inch square template to even these up).
I like that it's sort of a tour through my last several projects and I'm definitely going to make more - I have tons of blue and gray scraps from the hexies quilt I'm working on, which should add some interest when I put them all in one project. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them, though...I think they're a little too busy to just stitch together, so I'm thinking maybe some white sashing to join them?
